Bridal Shower ~ Part III

Ever been to a boring Bridal shower? Here is a fun game to play on the woman who is the center of all the attention, sure to gather some laughter.

Prior to the shower, have the groom answer some questions. Buy a few packs of Hubba Bubba bubble gum. Do not let the bride see questions or have the opportunity to get with the groom to see answers. Either before or after the gift opening, get everyone's attention, and someone who speaks loudly to ask her some questions. Every question she gets wrong she has to add a piece of gum to her mouth. The idea is you want her to have a mouthful, because it is pretty funny watching her try to answer with a mouth filled with gum. Now you do not want to kill her, so if you see that she has about 8 pieces of gum in her mouth, skip some of the harder questions and try to end it on a fun note.

Here are examples of some of the questions we have used in the past. (by the way - picture is Theresa - wedding # 9)

Planning a Bridal Shower ~ Part II

A really cute gift idea when there is not much left on your friends Bridal Registry is get a large basket, buy a bunch of candles, tie them with ribbon and add this sweet poem. It would be great to add candle holders and butane lighter or really nice long matches to the basket also.

Wedding Gift Candle Poem

A basket of candles that come in a pair
In all different colors, for you two to share
The white ones burn first They are wrapped in white lace
To celebrate your first married night In your new chosen place.
The green pair is taller, and also much thinner
Burn with the first company you have over for dinner
The dark blue candles are for after your first fight
Use them to burn while making up all night
Pink candles set the mood and pave the way
For your first married Valentine's Day Now,
when your first year of marriage is through
the cream anniversary pair will light for you two.
Red candles aflame, both your futures are bright
Celebrate promotions you've worked toward with all of your might.
By this time we hope, maybe, just maybe
You can light the purple ones, on the birth of your baby.
And just when you thought you'd put these away
Take the light blue ones out for your fifth anniversary day.
Now just one more pair left for the big 25 The anniversary pair that will keep your love alive.
Congratulations bride and groom (enter names)
On the start of your forever May the two of you always be happy together
And burn these candles Just the way we said
But please don't forget - blow them out before bed!!

Recipe: Broccoli Salad

Tired of Potato Salad….. Here’s a great NO COOK recipe.

Summer Broccoli Salad

4 to 5 crowns of raw broccoli cleaned and chopped small
1 medium red onion diced
1 jar of Hormel real bacon pieces
1 2 cup bag of shredded white cheddar cheese
1 cup mayo ( I use Lite)
¼ cup balsamic vinegar
¼ cup sugar

Mix mayo, vinegar and sugar. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours. Mix with rest of ingredients right before serving. (I add the cheese last – mix too early it gets soggy.)
Optional: add raisins or sunflower seeds.
