I know it has been a while since we have had a post, but I will give you an update on the planning of our 80s prom party.
We are going to have 142 guests!! My two buddies here, Nicole and Maryanne will be attending, we will have to post a pic of the 3 of us. I am sure it will be a good laugh!
So for starter, we booked a hall in January for the event. We picked a place that was on the reasonable end, but it is very nice inside and has a great reputation for its food.
My bro in law designed our flyers and tickets and we started harassing everyone in February to get their tickets. Of course most were last minute, but that its ok we hit our quota.
We had everyone fill out an order form for their tickets, and let us know who they would like to sit with. Our tables are famous peoples names from the 80s instead of table numbers. So I am sitting with a cardboard head of Corey Haim. We did arrange seating instead of letting everyone trying to find a seat when we get there, then having a bunch of tables that are not filled or people sitting with people they do not know. Everyone seems happy with that!
We are going to have prom king and queen and most outrageous outfit for male and female. All who win will get a bottle of boose. As for picking the winner, we are leaving that up to everyone attending. The photographer will nominate by giving the couples stickers to wear with a number on it. Everyone will have a voting slip at their table to put in a basket by 9:30. We will quickly count them up then have the dj announce the winners and play a slow song for them to dance to.
The DJ has been instructed to only play 80s music. A photographer was hired to take prom style portraits which she will be selling.
We made 80s mix CDs for everyone, but we found these great CDs that look like little records. We also have mini rubix keychains for everyone. We will also have candy cigarettes, mini chicletts, tootsie rolls, and a bunch of other 80s candy on the tables.
So I will let you know how it all goes and take many pictures!!
